Epsilonema steineri Chitwood, 1935 was established as a nomen novum/replacement name for the Barents Sea taxon described and figured by Steiner (1916: 575–579, Fig. 17) under the name Rhabdogaster cygnoides. Chitwood’s publication represents the nomenclatural act establishing the name E. steineri on page 54, but does not include a full morphological description. This taxonomic concept should not be confused with Rhabdogaster cygnoides sensu Metschnikoff, 1867 or sensu Schepotieff, 1908.
