Studies on the morph. of 8 spp. of the genus show a greater need for determination of the full range of variability of such characters as the lip region, spear length, total number of body annules, etc. Also the value as taxonomic guides of the presence or absence of sublateral lobes on the lip region and the cuticular patterns of the larvae are emphasized. Redescrs. and designations of neotypes are made for C. mutabile and C. informe. New spp. are C. xenoplax, C. curvatum, C. teres, C. lobatum, C. cylindricum and C. parvum. A key to the spp. of Criconemoides is included.
